ARTIST’S WAREHOUSE

This renovation in Yonkers, New York, is the conversion of a turn-of-the-century industrial factory into the future workspace, gallery, and living space of an artist couple. The conceptual approach began with the existing structure as a layered place with its own historical narrative that can be a resource and inspiration in the production and viewing of art. Some of our inspiration took place from the industrial galleries scattered within Chelsea. Our approach was always: minimal intervention and large impact.

I worked on this project in its SD & DD design phases. I surveyed the property, translated the program into usable space, and produced physical models for the firm’s use and for client meetings. It was my responsibility to research passive house products, for example, the sawtooth skylights, and translate the product details into working drawings. Additionally, my time was spent on presentation quality line drawings and in-house renderings.
